Giga scale Green Hydrogen Plant Planned For Sweden

A giga scale green hydrogen plant will be built in northern Sweden (Boden-Luleå region) by a startup called H2 Green Steel to produce fossil-free steel with an expected annual production capacity of five million tons of high-quality steel by 2030. This is an example of the industry seeking new ways of curbing carbon emission

“The climate crisis is the biggest challenge of our time and given steel’s impact on other industries’ sustainable development, a rapid change of the steel industry is extremely important,” said Henrik Henriksson, incoming CEO of H2 Green Steel.

The project includes a green hydrogen plant as an integrated part of the steel factory. The company is backed by Vargas Holding AB, one of the first shareholders in battery maker Northvolt AB.

Exciting things are happening in the green hydrogen and renewable industry. Did you hear about the world’s biggest Hydrogen plant opening in 2023 in Canada and Siemens and Air Liquide joining hands to develop industrial scale electrolyzers?

We are hopeful for a greener future where fossil fuels belong in the history and renewable energy is a global norm. Reducing our fossil fuel usage and carbon footprint is one of the most effective way to fight climate change and global warming.
